JUNK DIET DEATH OF SCOTT, 20
A MAN'S diet of chips, toast and beans killed him at just 20, his grieving family revealed yesterday.
Scott Martin contracted cirrhosis - common in heavy drinkers - and auto-immune hepatitis, which prevented his b ody healing properly.
He mainly ate chips and toast made from white bread. And he refused all fruit and veg except for occasional helpings of baked beans.
Despite warnings from doctors, Scott, who lived with his mum in Whitburn, South Tyneside, refused to change his diet and took medication instead.
But after an operation to remove three infected teeth, his weakened body was unable to recover and he died.
His sister, mum-of-six Gail Fairweather, said: "Scott began to feel ill last year with what we thought was the flu. He was tired all the time and could not walk far.
